Caught-In and Between Stand-Down Kit
Pinch points, rotating parts, equipment, and collapses.
Why it matters
Caught-in and between is one of the Focus Four. It includes everything from a hand in a pinch point to a worker crushed between equipment and a wall.
What it covers
- Never between. Don’t stand between moving equipment and anything solid.
- Guards stay on. Tools and machines are used with their guards in place.
- Lock it out. De-energize and lock out equipment before clearing jams or doing maintenance.
- Loose clothing and hair. Kept away from rotating parts and drives.
- Collapses. Trenches and unstable materials can trap people; protective systems and secure stacking prevent it.
Hands-on activity
Pinch point hunt: walk one piece of equipment and one tool station and tag every pinch point and rotating part with tape.
